The setting
Hôtel Montpelier is in Verbier, in the Swiss Alps, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre. This family-run hotel exudes the warm atmosphere of a mountain village and is situated in a quiet location where you can get a good night’s sleep, yet is just a few minutes’ walk from shops and bars, making it easy to walk to dinner. The rooms offer magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, and the ambiance here is cozy rather than luxurious. For families needing more space, spacious apartments are available.
What to expect
This is a cozy, small 3-star hotel run by manager Carlos Puchades and his team. The wellness centre features a heated indoor pool, a sauna, and a hammam. Myriam is in charge of breakfast; she has been overseeing breakfast operations at this hotel for three years. The hotel features a bar, a restaurant, and a café. The partner, Ski Service, offers rentals and maintenance for skis, snowboards, and snowshoes; during the warmer months, you can also rent bicycles there.
Things to do nearby
The Le Moulins Ski Lift ski lift is the closest to the hotel; it’s just a few steps from the main entrance. The Savolère lift is also within walking distance. The Leeboden, Le Rouge, and Le Verbier-Croix de – Croix des Ruinettes II ski lifts are a little farther away, but you can still walk to them, even in ski boots. The centre of Verbier, with its many bars, restaurants, and shops, is just a few minutes’ walk away and is perfect for an evening stroll after your last run.
Best for
It’s perfect for skiers and snowboarders who want to use the lifts without paying the high prices of 5-star hotels, as well as for families looking for spacious holiday apartments. Thanks to the playgrounds and swimming pool, even families with children can have a wonderful time here. And since there’s also an equipment rental shop and a spa, and the hotel itself is centrally located, it’s perfect for couples who want to ski to their heart’s content during the day and relax and enjoy their holiday in the evening.
How to get to the hotel
Generally, travellers arrive at Geneva Airport. From there, it’s about a two-hour drive to Verbier, or you can continue your journey by train and bus via Martigny and Le Châble, and then take the cable car from Le Châble up to Verbier. Although Sion Airport is closer, it offers only a limited number of flights. The hotel will be happy to arrange a transfer for you if you specify this when making your reservation. Guests arriving by car can use the parking facilities on the hotel grounds.

Your 6 days, loosely planned
Suggestions, not orders. Tour ideas to mix and match for your trip.
Arrival and a first look at Verbier
Once you’ve driven up from the valley, you should take a moment to relax and get to know the area during a leisurely stroll through the centre of Verbier. Pick up your ski passes, reserve equipment rentals through your hotel’s ski service, and find out which runs currently have the best conditions. When you return to the hotel, you can warm up in the heated pool or sauna, then have dinner at the hotel restaurant or stop by one of the town’s bars.
First runs from Le Moulins
At the start of your ski week, you’ll walk to the “Le Moulins Ski Lift” lift, take it up, and spend the morning in a relaxed atmosphere on the blue and red runs. Enjoy lunch at a mountain café right by the slopes, and in the afternoon, head to Savoleyres to change up the slope orientation and enjoy softer snow. To round out the day, treat yourself to a hammam session at the hotel’s spa, and enjoy a warm drink at the bar before dinner.
Savoleyres and long descents
Set aside a whole day to enjoy Savoyelle. This area features wide slopes and relatively uncrowded lifts, as well as a long, tree-lined run toward La Tzoumaz, which is ideal for those looking to build their confidence on skis, as well as for families with children. Have lunch at one of the restaurants along the slopes, then head back to Verbier in the afternoon. Once you’re back at the hotel, take off your ski boots, slip on some slippers, and pop into the spa for a moment.
Ruinettes and the Four Valleys
Head to Le Verbier-Croix des Ruinettes II Ski Lift and ride up into the wider Four Valleys area for a bigger day on skis. Long descents, mountain-restaurant lunches and open views of the surrounding peaks are the reward. Pace yourself and take the mid-afternoon lull to ski back down to the village. A soak in the pool and a proper dinner will do the rest.
Rest day in the village
Give the legs a break. Sleep in past breakfast, take a walk around Verbier's shops and galleries, and settle in somewhere warm for a long lunch. Spend the afternoon between the hammam, sauna and heated pool at the hotel spa. If the weather is clear, walk up above the village for the mountain views, then come back for a quiet dinner at the restaurant.
Last runs and check-out
Enjoy your last morning on the slopes at "Le Moulins Ski Lift" or "Le Rouge." It's best to ski the runs you're already familiar with so you can enjoy the day without having to look at a map. Return your rental gear to the ski service and pack your bags while enjoying coffee and pastries. Check out, load your luggage into the car, or book a shuttle to Le Châble, and enjoy one last view of the mountains before heading down into the valley.

FAQ
Is Hôtel Montpelier suitable for children?
Yes. The hotel has a children's playground on site and spacious family apartments for groups needing more room than a standard double. The heated indoor pool is a hit with kids after a day on the snow, and the family-run atmosphere means staff are used to welcoming younger guests.
What is there to do on site besides skiing?
The hotel spa has a heated pool, sauna and hammam, and there's a bar, restaurant and café on the premises. A golf course and tennis court are also listed among the available facilities. In the warmer months, the partner Ski Service switches to bike hire for downhill, mountain and e-bike outings.
When is the best time to visit Verbier?
During this trip, the ski season in Verbier begins to pick up steam from mid- to late December: the town is filled with a festive atmosphere, and you can count on reliable snow cover in the high-altitude areas. In January and February, the snowpack reaches its maximum depth, and March delights visitors with an abundance of sunny days. In addition, in the summer, this region is ideal for hikers and cyclists, who can use the same ski lifts to reach high-altitude trails.
How close are the ski lifts?
The ski lift closest to the hotel is Le Moulins Ski Lift, located just a few steps from the hotel entrance. The Savoyelle lift is also within walking distance. The Leeboden, Le Rouge, and “Le Verbier-Croix de – Croix des Ruinettes II” ski lifts, although located a little further away, can still be reached on foot even while wearing ski boots, making it easy to get ready for a morning on the slopes.
Can the hotel help with ski hire?
Yes. Hôtel Montpelier partners with Ski Service, which offers rentals of skis, snowboards, and snowshoes (for skiers of all levels—from beginners to experts), as well as maintenance for your personal skis. In the summer, this partner not only rents out downhill bikes, mountain bikes, and e-bikes but also provides maintenance and repair services for them.
