How to get to the hotel
Bern Airport is about an hour away by car, and Zurich Airport is about two hours away by direct train; regular trains run to the Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West train stations. Arrival and a slow lap of Interlaken
Drop off your luggage and start by taking a stroll down Höweg Street to get to know the area. The Höhematte pastures, you’ll get your first clear view of the Jungfrau peak, and you’ll often see paragliders landing right before your eyes. Take a short break, buy some Swiss chocolate at the shops along the main street, or enjoy a cup of coffee. In the afternoon, relax in the hotel’s sauna or steam room, and then enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Up to Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe
Take the early train from Interlaken Ost up through Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch. Give yourself time on the Sphinx viewing terrace, the Ice Palace and the snow plateau, then ride back down for a late lunch in Grindelwald with the Eiger looming above. Back at the hotel, book a massage to loosen up legs that have handled a lot of altitude in one day.
Lake Brienz and Giessbach Falls
Catch a boat from Interlaken Ost across the turquoise water of Lake Brienz. Get off at Giessbach, ride the historic funicular up to the falls and follow the paths that cross the cascades. Continue on to Brienz village for wood-carving workshops and a lakeside lunch, then boat back in the late afternoon. A swim in the hotel pool is a good way to close the day.
Schynige Platte ridge walking
Ride the cogwheel railway from Wilderswil up to Schynige Platte for one of the best panoramas over Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The Panoramaweg loop takes a couple of gentle hours and passes an Alpine botanical garden with hundreds of mountain plants. Come back down for a late lunch in town, then head to the Chimney bar back at the hotel for a nightcap.
Lake Thun and a last morning swim
Spend your final day on Lake Thun. A boat from Interlaken West runs past castles at Oberhofen and Spiez, both worth a stop for a walk through the grounds and a coffee by the water. Return in time for a last soak in the pool and spa area, pack slowly, and stop by the restaurant or bar before checking out and heading on to the station or car park.
