Why we love it

The setting

Berghotel Randolins is not in the centre of St. Moritz, but above it, on a mountainside, right next to the ski slopes. In this quiet and picturesque setting, you can enjoy views of the Engadine, and right outside the hotel entrance is a trail leading to forest hiking routes. The ski lifts are just a short walk away, and thanks to the free shuttle from the train station, you can easily reach St. Moritz if you’d like to go shopping, take a stroll along the lake, or visit a restaurant for a change of pace.

What to expect

This 3-star mountain hotel features 55 rooms, each individually decorated and equipped with ā€œSelect Comfortā€ beds, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and a selection of pillows. The hotel features a restaurant, a bar, a sauna, and a wellness centre. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and free self-parking is provided. The hotel offers a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere and features a game room as well as a playground for young children.

Things to do nearby

The main attraction is skiing. The ā€œChassellas Ski Liftā€ and ā€œTortsā€ ski lifts are right next to the hotel, and a short walk will take you to St. St. Moritz Suvretta. Also nearby are the ā€œAlp Giopā€ ski lift and the ā€œSignalbahnā€ cable car, which provide access to the extensive Corviglia ski resort. When you head down to the village, you’ll find yourself near the Engadine's la promenade, as well as cafes and shops.

Best for

This place is ideal for mountain lovers, skiers during ski season, and families who prefer fresh air to nightlife. For children, there is a playroom, a playground, and a children’s menu (for an additional fee). It’s also the perfect spot for couples looking to spend a quiet evening in the sauna. The peaceful, elevated location is especially recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy the Engadine scenery without staying right in the centre of St. Moritz.

How to get to the hotel

The nearest airport is Engadin Airport in Samedan, located about a 15-minute drive down the valley. However, most foreign tourists, after arriving at Zurich Airport, travel here by train or car (about 3–4 hours) via Chur. Trains operated by the Rhaetian Railway run from the St. Moritz train station, including the ā€œBerninaā€ and ā€œGlacier Expressā€ lines, which pass through picturesque scenery. Since the hotel offers a free shuttle from the train station, you won’t need to take a taxi upon arrival.

Your 4 days, loosely planned

Suggestions, not orders. Tour ideas to mix and match for your trip.

Day 1

Arrival and a first look at the Engadine

Take the free shuttle bus from the train station to the hotel and check in. After unpacking, take a stroll along the paths around Randolins and enjoy the view of the Engadine in a peaceful setting. In the afternoon, head down to St. Moritz-Bad and take a walk along the lakefront. Then have dinner at the hotel restaurant and turn in early to your ā€œSelect Comfortā€ bed to get some rest.

Day 2

Cable cars and mountain air

Walk to the ā€œSignalbahn Cable Carā€ cable car and take it up toward Corviglia. Enjoy a stroll along the mountain ridge with sweeping panoramic views, or take a break at a cafĆ© with a beautiful view. Starting in August, summer hiking trails are open in all directions—choose a route that leads downhill through high-altitude alpine meadows. Stop for lunch at a mountain cafĆ© along the way, and round out the afternoon in the hotel’s sauna.

Day 3

Lakes, museums and St. Moritz town

Why not take a morning walk around Lake St. Moritz? The route is flat and easy to navigate, and you’ll find plenty of picturesque spots along the way. Take a short detour toward town and visit the Segantini Museum and the Engadiner Museum. Both are just a few kilometres away. Have lunch at one of the rustic eateries, browse the shops along Via Serlas, and then take the shuttle back up the hill.

Day 4

Slow morning before check-out

Have a proper long breakfast, then take one last short walk from the hotel through the woods above Randolins — the Chassellas and Trutz lift areas are quiet and pretty in summer. Pack up, settle any extras at reception, and arrange the transfer back down to St. Moritz station in time for your onward train through the Engadine.
