The setting
This hotel is at the very tip of the Kanoni Peninsula, in a quiet and lush setting with dense pine and cypress forests, about 3–4 km south of the city of Corfu. From the private beach overlooking the Ionian Sea, you can see the island of Maus and the Vlacherna Monastery. You can take a local bus to the city centre, where you can browse the shops, stop by some taverns, and wander through the narrow streets of the Corfu Town.

How to get to the hotel
Corfu International Airport (CFU) is the nearest point of arrival and is about a 10–15-minute drive north of Kanoni. An airport transfer can be arranged at the time of booking. Ferries arriving from mainland Greece or Italy at the port of Corfu dock at a similar distance, and taxis and rental cars are available at both ports.

Arrival and the Kanoni shoreline
Settle in, then walk down to the private beach for a first swim in the Ionian. The water here looks straight across to Pontikonisi and the little white Monastery of Vlacherna on its causeway, so it's a good place to slow down after the flight. Later, pull up a seat at the bar for a cold drink, then have a light dinner at the hotel café or restaurant.
Corfu Town old quarter
Drive about 4 kilometres north along the coast toward the city of Corfu. In the morning, take a stroll through the narrow streets of the Corfu Town, which are reminiscent of Venice, walk to the old fortress, and admire the view of the coast. Have lunch at a tavern near Liston, and on your way back, stop by Corfu City Hall. Spend the afternoon by the pool and enjoy a relaxing evening at the hotel.
Snorkelling and tennis
Let's take advantage of the hotel's sports facilities today. Let’s reserve a tennis court before the sun gets too hot and play a game of tennis early in the morning. Mouse Island and Vlacherna
Let’s take a walk to the small causeway leading to the Monastery of the Virgin Mary of Vlacherna—one of the most photographed spots on Corfu. From there, small boats run back and forth to Mouse Island (Pontikonisi); Upon arriving on the island, a short path leads uphill to a small chapel standing in the middle of a cypress forest. Back on the peninsula, you’ll also have a chance to watch planes flying low over the lagoon before returning to the hotel.
Archaeological Museum morning
Take a taxi or bus into town and visit the Corfu Archaeological Museum. It features artifacts from the ancient city, including an impressive pediment depicting the Gorgon. After visiting the museum, you can stroll along Market Street or have a coffee in the shaded square. Return to Kanoni before sunset to go for a swim, and then enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Diving day
How about taking a dip right from the beach next to the hotel? Thanks to the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea and the sheer cliffs, visibility here is excellent. South coast beaches
Take a rental car or a taxi to explore the beaches south of Kanoni. How hot does Corfu get through the year?
Winters in Corfu are mild (10–14 °C), and it quickly gets warmer starting in April. From June through August, it’s hot, with air temperatures often ranging from 28 to 32 °C, and water temperatures around 24–26 °C. In September, when the hotel were travelling, it was warm during the day—with temperatures around 24–27 °C—and the sea was still warm enough for swimming. In October, temperatures drop to the lower end of the 20 °C range, and by November, you’ll need a sweater.
Is there a rainy season in Corfu?
Yes. Corfu is one of the greenest islands in Greece. This is primarily because there is a lot of rainfall here from November through March, with the highest amounts occurring in December and January the. There is practically no rain in the summer, and in September (during your trip) there are only rare, brief showers. Overall, sunny weather is expected for this trip, though as fall sets in, brief thunderstorms may occur from time to time.
Where is the nicest part of Corfu to stay?
It depends on the purpose of your trip. Kanoni, where this hotel is, is a quiet and picturesque place with easy access to the city of Corfu. The Old Town itself is ideal for exploring cultural attractions and enjoying the cityscape, which resembles Venice. Paleokastritsa and the north-western coast are home to the most picturesque beaches, while the south features gentle slopes and is ideal for family holidays. Kanoni is an excellent starting point in every respect.
Is Corfu or Crete the better holiday choice?
Crete is much larger and drier; it’s ideal for long road trips, mountain hikes, and exploring the history of the Minoan civilization. Corfu, on the other hand, is smaller, boasts lush greenery, and is easy to get around; it also still largely retains the character of Venice and the Ionian Islands. If you want to spend a week at a beach resort within walking distance of historic towns, Corfu is the best choice. If, on the other hand, you want to spend two weeks enjoying a variety of landscapes, Crete offers a wider range of options.
Why do parts of Corfu look run down?
Some of the resort complexes, built at a rapid pace in the 1970s and 1980s, have not stood the test of time, and during the off-season, old hotels and shops stand empty in some areas. With the exception of these areas, the island is in good condition. The city of Corfu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is well-maintained; the Kanoni Peninsula, which surrounds this hotel, is covered in lush vegetation and meticulously maintained, creating a completely different atmosphere.
