Why we love it

The setting

Soccer Suite is about 3 km from central Liverpool, right next to Anfield and just 150 metres from the stadium. It is a family-run guesthouse, and its lounge and bar have a lively atmosphere before and after games. The city centre is about a 10-minute bus ride away. The atmosphere here is friendly, and it’s especially bustling on match days. On evenings when there are no matches, it’s relatively quiet here, and the nearby shops and stadium entrances are within walking distance.

What to expect

This is a small guesthouse with several recently renovated rooms featuring private bathrooms, as well as a bar serving drinks and light snacks. On game days, popular pub-style dishes are served throughout the day so fans can grab a bite before the game starts. The rooms are equipped with a TV, heating, an iron, and everything needed to make tea and coffee; free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. There's al is also a picnic area on the property.

Things to do nearby

Liverpool Football Club and Anfield Stadium are right next to each other, and the Anfield Road Stadium is right next to them. On days when there are no matches, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the LFC Museum and Tour Centre, where you can take a look behind the scenes. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to World of Glass. The city centre, with its docks, museums, and Beatles la attractions, is a quick bus ride south.

Best for

This is the perfect spot for soccer fans who want to watch a Liverpool game, as well as for families and small groups who want to avoid traffic on game day and prefer to walk to the stadium. The bar and lounge are recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy the pre-game atmosphere.

How to get to the hotel

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is about a 30-minute drive south of Anfield; taxis and buses run from there to the city centre. Trains from various cities, such as London and Manchester, arrive at Liverpool Lime Street Station; from there, it’s a short trip to the guesthouse—about 10 minutes by bus or a short taxi ride.

Your 2 days, loosely planned

Suggestions, not orders. Tour ideas to mix and match for your trip.

Day 1

Match day around Anfield

Start your day with a relaxing morning at the guesthouse, then head to the LFC Museum & Tour Centre to see the trophies and locker rooms. As kickoff approaches, order something from the bar’s lunch menu, enjoy the anticipation of the game at Anfield Road, and then take your seat in the stands. After the match, head back to the lounge and relive the game’s highlights with fellow fans over a pint of beer.

Day 2

City centre and the waterfront

Let’s take the bus to central Liverpool. The ride will take about 10 minutes. Spend the morning strolling through the Albert Docks and visit the Merseyside Museum, as well as “The Beatles Story” exhibition. After having lunch at one of the cafes near the waterfront, take a walk to the cathedral or browse the shops on Bold Street. If you have time left, stop by “World of Glass” before heading back to Anfield.

FAQ

What is the best month to visit Liverpool?

September, when this trip falls, is one of the better months: mild days, thinner summer crowds and the football season back in full swing at Anfield. May and June are also strong for longer daylight and outdoor events on the waterfront.

How many days do you need to see Liverpool?

You can see all the main attractions in two or three days. These include the museum at Albert Dock, both cathedrals, a tour of places associated with The Beatles, as well as attending a soccer game at Anfield Stadium and taking a stadium tour. If you’re here mainly for the soccer game and just want to take a quick stroll through the city centre, one night’s stay will be plenty.

What is Liverpool's best season?

The best time to visit is from late spring to early fall—roughly from May through September. The weather is warm during this time, and there are plenty of events taking place.

Is Liverpool, UK worth visiting?

That's true. In Liverpool, many of the city's attractions are concentrated in the compact city centre. These include the waterfront, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, numerous museums, the Beatles’ historical legacy, and two famous soccer clubs. For fans in particular, match day itself is the main event, especially if they live within walking distance of Anfield Stadium.

Is Liverpool good for tourists?

Liverpool is so compact that you can comfortably explore the city centre on foot, and thanks to frequent bus service and the city’s reputation for being very hospitable, it’s an extremely pleasant place for tourists to visit. Anfield is about 3 km north of the city centre and is easily accessible by bus or taxi. Therefore, it’s recommended to use Anfield as a base for attending soccer matches and to head to the city centre for sightseeing.
