Why we love it
The setting
Hotel Breakwater sits on Ocean Drive, one of the most recognisable strips in South Beach. The building is a 1930s Art Deco property, restored in white with the blue trim the district is known for. You step out of the front door onto the pedestrian side of Ocean Drive, with the sand a short walk across the road. The Art Deco Welcome Center is about a minute away on foot, so the heritage walking tours start almost at the hotel.
What to expect
Rooms keep the period look with modern fittings, and a couple would book the Superior Double room. There is a rooftop pool with views over the treetops towards the water, plus a ground-level pool deck lined with loungers and umbrellas. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar on site. Rooms are booked on a room-only basis here, with breakfast available separately through a voucher at a partner spot nearby if you want it.
Things to do nearby
You are surrounded by the Art Deco Historic District. The Art Deco Museum is about 70 m away and the Wolfsonian Museum roughly 200 m. Ocean Drive's restaurants and cafes are immediately outside the door. Lincoln Road's shopping and the wider beach run north of here, all reachable on foot, so you can spend the six nights without needing to drive much.
Best for
Couples who want to be on Ocean Drive itself, within steps of the beach and the Art Deco landmarks, and who like a rooftop pool to come back to.
