Four to five days covers the main sights comfortably: a day for the Marina and JBR beach, one for Downtown and the Burj Khalifa, one for Old Dubai's souks and creek, and a day at the water park or on a desert trip. A week lets you slow down and enjoy the pool and spa properly.

Key rules: dress modestly in public, no public displays of affection, no drinking or being drunk in public, no drugs, no swearing or rude gestures, respect Ramadan fasting hours, don't photograph people without consent, only drink alcohol in licensed venues, unmarried couples should be discreet, and always carry ID.

Head up the Burj Khalifa, wander Dubai Mall and the fountains, take a desert safari with dune bashing, explore the gold and spice souks in Deira by abra, and spend a beach day at JBR. On site, guests can also use the pool, water sports facilities and fitness centre before heading out.
