The setting
The Bonanza Park Hotel is in Calvià, about 8 km from the centre of Palma. Here, in a quiet area in the southwest of Mallorca, coves surrounded by pine forests stretch out in place of large resort beaches. The hotel features indoor and outdoor pools, a bar, a restaurant, and a café. If you rent a car to explore the island, parking is available. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and thanks to the hotel’s own shuttle service, included in the room rate, you won’t have to worry about finding a taxi. This 4-star hotel focuses on functionality and a family-friendly atmosphere rather than luxury, and fits perfectly into the laid-back vibe of this coastal region.
What to expect
A 6-day stay with breakfast included. With a pool where you can swim in the morning and evening, you can spend relaxing days by the pool or in the nearby cove. The hotel grounds also feature a mini-golf course and a diving club, so active guests can choose other leisure activities besides sunbathing. For families, there is a game room, a children’s playground, and a separate children’s pool, so children under 10 can also enjoy their own relaxation area. A simple, relaxed pace of life awaits you: breakfast, the beach and pool, walks, a drink at the bar. Calvià has the atmosphere of a residential neighbourhood and is even quieter at night than the centre of Palma, but if you want to enjoy a livelier nightlife, you can drive there.
Things to do nearby
The coastline stretches out right before your eyes. Es Genetó is just 214 metres away, and Cala Brogit is 245 metres away; both of these small beaches are perfect for swimming before the sun gets too hot. The Cova de Sa Grava sea cave is a 425-metre walk away. Caleta de Bendinat, located 431 m away, is an even more beautiful sandy beach, perfect for spending a long day there. If the nearby coves are crowded, you can visit Caló de ses Gerres, located 472 metres away. Five swimming spots within a half-kilometre radius is unusual even for Mallorca, so you’ll hardly need a car for a day at the beach.
Best for
Ideal for families looking for amenities and pools for children, for couples looking for a quiet spot by the sea near Palma, as well as for anyone who prefers to walk to five small coves rather than wait their turn for a lounge chair on a large resort beach.

A week, loosely planned
Suggestions, not orders. Tour ideas to mix and match for your trip.
Arrive and find your bearings
Head from Palma Airport to the hotel, drop off our luggage, and then take your time exploring the grounds and the three pools. Since breakfast will be served earlier than expected tomorrow, it’s best to spend the first day in a relaxed atmosphere. Take a walk to Es Genetó, which is 214 metres from the hotel, to take your first swim and enjoy the coastal atmosphere. After dinner at the hotel restaurant and a cocktail at the bar, turn in early.
Cove-hopping on foot
Take a walk along the nearby beaches. The route starts at Cala Brogit (245 m from the hotel), runs along the spacious sandy beach of Caleta de Bendinat (431 m), and returns via Caló de ses Gerres (472 m from the hotel). Since there is little shade here, it would be better to bring water and a light snack. String the afternoon, return to the hotel to take a dip in the pool or have a shower before dinner. It’s the perfect day for the kids to let off some steam and have fun.
Palma day trip
After driving or taking the bus 8 km to Palma, take a stroll through the narrow streets of the Old Town and visit the cathedral, then enjoy a leisurely lunch. If you enjoy markets and small galleries, you can easily spend a whole day in this city. In extreme heat, it’s recommended to limit your trip to about half a day. Head back to the hotel in the afternoon for a dip in the pool, then enjoy dinner at a local restaurant near Calvià rather than grabbing a quick bite in town.
Diving or mini-golf
Use what's on site. The diving club is worth a try if you've never been under, with a pool session usually first; mini-golf is the easier family option and kills an hour before lunch. Spend the afternoon at Cova de sa Grava, the sea cave 425 m from the hotel, then a long swim back at the outdoor pool. Quiet dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Slow beach day
Pick a beautiful cove early this week and spend the day there. Caleta de Bendinat remains very popular, as it has plenty of sandy beach where children can play, and it’s the perfect spot to spread out a towel and read a book. If the group agrees, have a picnic with the leftovers from breakfast. When you get back to the hotel, if the wind is strong, move from the outdoor pool to the indoor one, then enjoy a cozy dinner and wrap up the evening with a drink or two at the bar.
West coast drive
If you've hired a car, head west along the coast for the morning, stopping wherever the road looks promising. Lunch out, then back to Calvià by mid-afternoon. Children who've had enough sightseeing can stay behind with the playroom and children's pool while one parent does the driving. Final evening: pool, shower, a proper dinner, pack the bulk of the bags before bed.
Last swim and out
After breakfast, head out for our final walk in Es Genetó and go for a swim while someone else packs up. Check-out from the hotel is usually in the late morning. If your transfer isn’t scheduled until the afternoon, the hotel will hold onto your luggage so you can enjoy a little more time in the pool. After a light lunch at a café, head to the airport. Six nights is just the right amount of time to explore this coastal region. That way, you’ll be able to visit all five bays.

FAQ
How far is the hotel from Palma?
Calvià sits roughly 8 km from central Palma, so it's an easy drive or bus ride for a day in the city. You can take a transfer from the airport, and parking at the hotel is available if you're hiring a car for trips along the coast.
Is it a good choice for families with young children?
Yes. The hotel features a game room, a children’s playground, and a separate children’s pool, as well as indoor and outdoor pools that the whole family can enjoy. Since there are five small coves within a 500-metre radius, you won’t need a car to get to the beach. This property is marked as “ideal for families with children.”
Is early July a good time to go?
In July, Mallorca is hot and dry, with sunshine almost every day, and since the water temperature is pleasantly warm, the island is perfect for long swims. Mornings and evenings are the best times for walks, while during the day it’s best to spend time by the pool or in shady coves. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen with a high SPF and book a table in advance at restaurants in Palma.
What's included with breakfast?
The rate comes with daily breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Lunch and dinner aren't part of the package, but there's an on-site restaurant, a bar and a café if you'd rather not go out every evening.
Can you walk to a beach from the hotel?
In fact, there are several. Es Genetó—214 m, to Cala Brogit—245 m, to Cova de Sa Grava—425 m, to Caleta de Bendinat—431 m, and to Caló de ses Gerres—472 m. They're are more like small swimming spots than long sandy beaches, but you can visit them one after another without getting in the car.
