The setting
The "Los Amigos Beach Club" Beach Club is in La Cala de Mijas on the Costa del Sol, just a few minutes' walk from Playa del Charcón. The area surrounding the “Playa Marina” residential complex is a seaside neighbourhood quiet enough for a family holiday, yet close to cafes, beach bars, and the coastal promenade, which stretches eastward to Fuengirola. The atmosphere here is relaxed and peaceful.
What to expect
This 3-star family-friendly resort features a swimming pool, a children’s pool, and a playground, as well as a game room and a kids’ club, ensuring that even the youngest guests can fully enjoy their stay. For adults, there is a sauna, a massage room, and a spa; in addition, the resort has a bar, a restaurant, and a café. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort, and if you arrive by car, you can take advantage of free parking.
Things to do nearby
Playa del Charcón is right next to the hotel, and the beaches of Playa del Charcón—Playa Marina and Playa del Faro—are easily accessible with a short walk along the coast. To get to Playa del Faro (El Faro), you need to walk a little further east, and Playa Rocas del Cura is a little further along the coast. This spot is perfect for a morning walk before sunrise.
Best for
It’s perfect for families who have just returned from a relaxing beach holiday on the Costa del Sol. While the kids have fun in the children’s pool, on the playground, in the game room, and at the kids’ club, parents can enjoy some downtime at the spa, sauna, and massage room. Couples who prefer a quiet getaway near the beach rather than in a lively party district will also feel right at home here.
How to get to the hotel
From Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, you can reach this town by car via the AP-7 highway heading east in about 25–30 minutes; this is the main route to La Cala de Mijas. When making a reservation, you can arrange for a private transfer, or easily take a taxi right from the terminal. If you want to explore the coast more extensively, it’s convenient to rent a car, and you can take advantage of free parking on the hotel grounds. The nearest train station is the CercanĂas station in Fuengirola's CercanĂas.

A week, loosely planned
Suggestions, not orders. Tour ideas to mix and match for your trip.
Arrival and first steps on the sand
Upon arrival in Málaga, you can either pick up your rental car or take a pre-booked shuttle and head west on the AP-7 highway toward La Cala de Mijas. After checking into your hotel and quickly unpacking your bags, head straight to Playa del Charcón on foot to explore and get your bearings in the area. Dip your toes in the water, watch people paddleboarding, stop by one of the beach bars right on the shore, enjoy a serving of grilled fish, and then turn in early.
Pool mornings and coastal wandering
Start your week in a relaxed atmosphere by the pool. Thanks to the children’s pool and playground, even the youngest guests are sure to have a great time here. After lunch, take a stroll along the waterfront toward Playa del Charcón (Playa Marina) and stop by one of the cafés along the way. Come back before sunset for another swim, and then stop by the village of La Cala to enjoy some tapas in one of its small squares.
Sports, snorkelling and salt water
Take full advantage of all the amenities on the resort grounds. Then, put on your mask and fins, head to the cliffs near Playa del Faro, and enjoy some snorkeling. The closer you get to the shore, the clearer the water becomes. To round out the day, enjoy a cozy lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool.
Mijas Pueblo on the hill
Drive up to Mijas Pueblo, the whitewashed village in the hills behind the coast. Wander the narrow lanes, look in at the small chapels, and take in the views back down to the Mediterranean. Grab a long lunch on a terrace, then coast back down to the hotel in time for a swim. Round off the day with a massage at the spa centre.
Diving day or lazy beach hop
If everyone’s interested, you could sign up for a diving tour at the hotel’s activity centre and see the Costa del Sol from the sea. For those who don’t want to go diving, it’s worth taking a walk along the coast eastward to Playa del Faro (El Faro) and, once you’ve found a spot where the sandy beach looks most picturesque, spread out a towel and relax. After returning to the hotel and taking a refreshing shower, head to La Cala to enjoy some grilled sardines and a cold beer.
Málaga city day
Let’s set aside a whole day to drive along the coastal road to Málaga. You’ll walk up to the Alcazaba, explore the Roman theatre below, and then stroll through the winding streets of the Old Town to the cathedral. You’ll have lunch at one of the lively tapas bars in the Soho district, and before heading back, you’ll stop by the Picasso Museum. When you get back, you can cool off with a dip in the pool and then enjoy a light dinner.
Slow morning, longer walk
Save today for the things you didn't get to. Back at the hotel, book the sauna and a massage while the kids use the playroom or kids club. Dinner tonight in the hotel restaurant, no driving.
