What to expect
The rooms are behind a classic Lisbon-style façade that reflects the traditional style of this collection. On the ground floor, you’ll find a bar where you can enjoy a drink late into the night, as well as a restaurant that’s perfect if you don’t feel like going out. Between long walks, you can stay in shape at the gym, and concierge services are available at the front desk. For guests arriving by car from the north, parking is very convenient, and thanks to the hotel’s central location, it’s easy to find a taxi or use carpooling services. Here you can enjoy a peaceful, traditional getaway away from the hustle and bustle of large resort complexes. It’s a place you’ll be happy to return to after a day spent in the hills.
Things to do nearby
"Escola de Dança Sétima Posição" is practically next door, and the São José neighbourhood is just a short walk away. If you walk a little way up the hill, you’ll reach “Torel Garden”—a small, particularly green spot offering a magnificent view of the city. In addition, the “Reservatorio da Patriarcal” is right nearby, making it ideal for a short stroll to admire the architecture. Movie lovers can reach the “Museu da Cinemateca Portuguesa Museum” in less than 10 minutes. The museum’s café and film screenings are a great way to spend the day. From the hotel, you can also stroll along Avenida da Liberdade toward Praça dos Restauradores and, from there, explore the cityscape of the Baixa district, which resembles a chessboard.

Your 4 days, loosely planned
Suggestions, not orders. Tour ideas to mix and match for your trip.
Settling in around Avenida
Drop off your luggage, head straight to Avenida da Liberdade, and enjoy your first leisurely stroll. Have a cup of “bica” and try a “pastel” on the café terrace, then stroll toward Praça dos Restauradores to soak up the city’s atmosphere. Stroll through the streets around São José, located right behind the hotel, return to the hotel, and, to round out the day, enjoy an early dinner at the hotel restaurant or at one of the nearby tascas. An evening cocktail at the bar will be the perfect way to end this ideal day.
Viewpoints and Torel Garden
Let’s start by walking up a short hill to the Torel Garden. From here, you’ll have the most beautiful view of the city’s rooftops, glistening in the morning light. From there, you’ll make a short detour to the Patriarcal for a quick look around, and then stroll down Rua do Príncipe Real to have lunch at a café or tasca. In the afternoon, you can take a leisurely stroll through designer shops and small galleries, and then work out a bit at the hotel’s fitness centre or enjoy a glass of "Vinho Verde" at the bar—spend the rest of the day in complete relaxation.
Film, culture and slow afternoons
How about taking a walk to the Cinemateca Portuguesa museum and spending an hour or two there, learning about the history of cinema and enjoying its regularly updated screening schedule? The museum’s café is the perfect place to have a leisurely lunch. In the afternoon, you can stop by the “Escola de Dança Sétima Posição” dance school, stroll through the streets around São José, and pop into one or two shops selling ceramic tiles along the way. Since July evenings are still warm, it’s worth enjoying a cozy dinner al fresco on the evening before you leave.
Baixa, Chiado and the river
On your last morning, you’ll stroll down Avenida toward Baixa, walk along Rua Augusta to Praça do Comércio, and take a walk along the riverbank. Then you’ll head up to the Chiado district, have coffee at a historic café, and return either by tram No. 28 or on foot through the Bairro Alto neighbourhood. Before checking out the next morning, pick up a few take-home souvenirs such as canned fish, ginger, or a packet of coffee.
