How to get to the hotel
The nearest airport is Naples International Airport, which is about a 90-minute drive away via the coastal highway. You can also arrange a private transfer when making your reservation. The train ride from Naples to Salerno takes about 40 minutes; from there, you can take a SITA bus or a ferry along the coast to Amalfi, from where it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the Atlani Hotel. For guests arriving by car, parking spaces are available on the hotel grounds.

Settling into Atrani
When you arrive, drop off your luggage and take a stroll to Piazza Umberto I—Atrani’s main square—to enjoy your first coffee alongside the locals. Since the beach is just a two-minute walk past the arch, you’ll have no trouble taking a dip in the afternoon before the sun sets behind the cliffs. Then head back to the hotel to visit the wellness centre, and for dinner, choose one of the cozy little trattorias in the square to watch as the lights come on and the atmosphere in the village grows increasingly calm and relaxed.
Amalfi town and the cathedral
You can reach Amalfi via the coastal paths and through the tunnels. It takes about 10 minutes on foot. Climb the gently curving staircase to the Cathedral of San Andrea, take a peek at the “Paradise Passage,” and then spend some time at the paper museum located deep in the valley. Have lunch at a café near the harbour (be sure to try the fish dish “Schiaratiere”) and stop by a pottery shop. Return by ferry or take a stroll along the coast back home.
Ravello gardens and music
Take a car or the SITA bus up the winding road leading to Ravello, which towers above the coast. Spend the morning at Villa Rufolo. From here, against the backdrop of terraced gardens, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast—one of the most beautiful views in the world. Then take a stroll to Villa Cimbrone and visit the “Infinity Terrace.” August the Ravello Festival usually runs through the end of August, consider checking the program and, if something catches your eye, booking tickets for an evening concert.
Path of the Gods walk
Let’s head out early, while it’s still cool. Take the bus to Bomerano and set out on the “Sentiero degli Dei” (Path of the Gods). This hiking trail runs along the mountain ridge high above the coast to Nocelle; on one side, steep cliffs drop down to the sea, and on the other, limestone cliffs stretch out. At a steady pace, the hike will take about three hours. After descending the stairs to Positano, where you’ll enjoy a late lunch and take a dip in the sea, you’ll return to Amalfi by ferry in the afternoon.
Spa morning and a slow finish
Spend your last day in a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Start your morning at the hotel’s wellness centre, and then take one last dip at Atrani’s pebble beach. Take a stroll to the Church of San Salvatore de Virecto, which stands quietly above the square, and enjoy one last view of the town stretching out over the rooftops. Buy lemon candies and limoncello at the village shops, enjoy a cozy lunch of fresh fish, and spend the rest of the day completely relaxing until it’s time to check out.

What is the weather like in late August?
In late August, the Amalfi Coast is hot and sunny; daytime highs are usually around 28–30 °C, and the water temperature is also ideal for swimming. Evenings in the evening, the weather remains mild enough to enjoy dinner outdoors. Since it’s still peak season, it’s recommended to book restaurant tables and ferry tickets in advance. If you want to hike trails such as the “Path of the Gods,” you should set out early.
Is there parking on site?
Yes, the hotel has parking spaces. This is really convenient on this coastal highway, since there are few parking spaces in Atrani and Amalfi, and the streets are very narrow. If you’re driving from Naples, keep in mind that traffic jams can occur on the SS163 coastal highway during the summer, especially on weekends.
How easy is it to reach other Amalfi Coast towns?
It’s very simple. The ferry terminal and bus stop—from which you can travel from Atrani to Amalfi—are just a few minutes’ walk away, and during the high season, ferries run regularly to Positano, Capri, and Salerno. In addition, SITA buses run along the coastal road toward Ravello, Praiano, and beyond. Since traffic is very heavy in August, taking the ferry is often a more comfortable option.
Is the hotel a good base for walkers?
That’s right. Since Atrani is at the foot of the Valle delle Ferriere, you can hike directly from the village through the terraced lemon groves and past the old paper mill. The starting point of the “The Path of the Gods” in Bomerano is just a few minutes away by bus, and the stairways running along the coast connect Atrani with Amalfi and on to Minori.
