The setting
The Odessa Beach Hotel is right on Sunrise Beach in Protaras, on the quiet eastern coast of Cyprus. Bars, taverns, and shops line the promenade throughout the resort, but the immediate surroundings of the hotel have a peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for a family holiday. The centre of Paralimni is about 7 km inland. Local buses run along the coast, and almost the entire beach is within walking distance of the hotel’s main entrance.
What to expect
A 4-star beachfront hotel with a swimming pool and plenty to do without leaving the grounds: table tennis, tennis, a gym and fitness facilities, plus water sports, diving and snorkelling from the beach. Rooms range from land-view doubles to family rooms sleeping four. Kids get their own playroom, playground and pool. Free Wi-Fi and on-site parking are included.
Things to do nearby
Since Sunrise Beach is right at the hotel entrance, you can start your day with a swim even before breakfast. Yianna Marie Beach is a little further south along the sandy coastline, and the Vrysi beaches (A, B, C) are a bit further down the same coastal path. These beaches feature both areas where the water depth gradually increases—making them ideal for swimming—and quiet coves, all of which are within walking distance of the hotel.

Couples looking for a straightforward Cyprus sun week will get on with it too. Divers and snorkellers have kit and instruction to hand, and children have a dedicated pool, playroom and playground, so parents can actually sit down for a bit.
How to get to the hotel
The nearest airport is Larnaca International Airport, located about 80 km to the southwest; depending on traffic conditions, the drive usually takes about an hour. You can also fly into Paphos Airport; it takes just under two hours to reach it via the highway. When booking, you can arrange for a private or group transfer. If you’d like to venture beyond the resort to explore Cape Greco and the Famagusta region, renting a car is a convenient option.

Arrival and first steps on Sunrise Beach
Upon arrival in Larnaca, you’ll take your pre-booked shuttle and arrive in Protaras in about an hour. After checking in at the hotel and dropping off your luggage, you’ll immediately set off on foot to Sunrise Beach to enjoy your first swim in the sea. Spend the afternoon, you’ll stroll through the narrow streets along the coast, soaking up the atmosphere of the area, and then have dinner at a roadside tavern. To watch the sunset, you’ll return to the poolside terrace and comfortably wrap up your first evening.
Beach-hopping along the east coast
Start by spending a peaceful morning at Sunrise Beach, then head south to Yianna Marie Beach and on to the three Vrysi beaches. From spacious sandy beaches perfect for family holidays to small rocky coves ideal for snorkeling, each beach has its own unique charm. Bring a drink and a book, and spend a relaxing day, stopping for lunch at one of the beach cafés. When you return to the hotel, you can take a dip in the pool before dinner.
Water sports and diving day
Enjoy all the entertainment the hotel has to offer to the fullest. Book a diving tour or grab some snorkeling gear, head out from the beach into the sea, and explore the underwater world. If you’re looking for something more active, water sports equipment is also available. Work out in the pool, enjoy a cozy lunch, and then spend the rest of the afternoon on a lounge chair reading a paperback. Round out the day with an evening stroll along the boardwalk.
Cape Greco and coastal walks
Take a rental car or a taxi to Cape Greco National Park, which is about a 15-minute drive along the coast. Take a stroll along the cliff trails, explore the sea caves and natural bridges, and on your way back, take a dip in Konnos Bay. In the afternoon, return to the hotel and relax by the pool. Have dinner in Protaras, then take a pleasant stroll along the promenade back to the hotel.
Family day on-site
For now, put your travel plans on hold and leave everything to the hotel. Children can move freely between the kids’ pool, the playroom, and the playground while their parents relax on the lounge chairs. They can burn off some excess energy playing table tennis or tennis, and if you’d like to get a full workout, there’s also a gym at your disposal. A late lunch, a relaxing bath, and an early dinner will let you enjoy the day in complete relaxation and without stress.
Ayia Napa detour
Ayia Napa is a short drive south for a change of pace. Wander the harbour, look in at the medieval monastery in the old town, and spend a couple of hours at Nissi Beach if you fancy busier sand. Lunch is easy along the waterfront. Head back to Protaras in the late afternoon, cool off in the pool, and see out the evening with drinks somewhere on the coastal path.
Slow morning and Paralimni
Get a good night’s sleep, take your time enjoying breakfast, and relax on the beach once more at your leisure. In the afternoon, head to the town of Paralimni, located about 7 km inland, to experience a more relaxed, everyday side of Cyprus. There you’ll find local shops, lively squares, and taverns that aren’t geared toward tourists. When you return to the hotel, you can take another dip in the pool, and then have dinner at the restaurant you’ve been wanting to visit all week.
